SAISD is proud to host this evening of fun and information on our SAISD Bilingual Program, and to connect our families to vital and helpful resources in our community. Now in its third year, our Bilingual Program utilizes the students' primary language of Spanish as a resource while acquiring full proficiency in English including listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Developing a child’s home language is critical for developing their English language skills. Research has shown that English Learners who receive bilingual instruction at an early age are more successful academically and have higher achievements in later grades.

“At SAISD, we are empowering our students with more chances of landing a good job or advancing in their careers through our Bilingual Program and other resources. We are also allowing the students to show pride in their culture, ¡Orgullo Bilingue! It’s one more way we celebrate all the ways our students are smart,” said SAISD Director of Bilingual and English Language Learners Christy Diego.

SAISD extends our appreciation to our community partners and resources who are joining us to help make this a fun and impactful event for our families including Children’s Advocacy Center, La Esperanza Clinic, West Texas Rehab Center, Howard College, Adult Literacy Council, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of the Concho Valley, Autism Alliance Council of the Concho Valley, Concho Valley Community Action Committee, West Texas Legal Aid, the JPW Learning Center and more.
