Caps off to the Central High School Class of 2021 Graduates

Congratulations to the Central High School Class of 2021! The CHS Graduation Ceremony to celebrate 615 graduating students was held Saturday morning, May 29, 2021 at San Angelo Stadium.

“Together, we have raised the next generation of learners, leaders, and public servants. Through the magnificent efforts of our students, staff, campus leaders, and the families of our graduates, our students are ready to build the future,” said Dr. Carl Dethloff, Superintendent of San Angelo ISD. “I want to express my gratitude for what I’ve seen the last few months; incredible students that are built to pivot, lift each other up, and serve their community.”

CHS Principal Bill Waters addressed and presented the Class. The Acceptance of the Class was by SAISD Board Trustee Mr. Max Parker.

“SAISD Graduation ceremonies are always the highlight of the year for board members. We were very disappointed last year’s seniors were deprived of that unique experience with their classmates and families. In my opinion, the 2021 Central Graduating seniors are the ‘mightiest’ of the mighty bobcat graduating classes of all time because of all the requirements and obstacles placed upon them by the COVID-19 pandemic. No other graduating class in Central High history had to be disciplined to daily wear a mask and practice social distancing and comply with national and state quarantine protocols for their safety and the safety of their families.  I truly feel the character traits this class has developed the past 15 months from their perseverance will allow them to navigate any future obstacle placed in their lives,” said Mr. Parker.

CHS student speakers included Senior Student Council President Julianna Nicole Pidgeon, Amy Davilyn Martinez, Valedictorian Justin Michael De La Cruz, and Salutatorian and Senior Class President Natasha Flores-Acton. De La Cruz and Flores-Acton also recited a joint poem. CHS JROTC conducted the Posting of the Colors, and senior members of the Bobcat Choir sang “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

SAISD is proud of our CHS Class of 2021 graduates and their achievements, and honors this important milestone and stepping off point for their future.
